Hot Temperatures and Hot Racing feature in SignMasters Night

Hot temperatures and hot racing provided and exciting night of racing at the Park Jefferson Speedway presented by SignMasters. With many of the point battles well under way, the night opened the door for some exciting point battles in the five IMCA classes that raced Friday, setting up things for a very exciting summer at Park Jefferson.

In the SignMasters modifieds, it was regular competitor Shane Demey finding victory lane for the first time this season. Competing regularly for the first time this season, Demey has admittedly struggled. However, he used is up front starting spot to charge away to victory. Point leader Bob Moore was struggled with fuel issues and coupled with the strong run by Ricky Stephans, was able to apply pressure to Bob Moore atop the point standings. Jim Thies continues his strong runs at Park Jeff and finished third with top IMCA Modified Rookie Zach Van Voorst just finishing off the podium.

In the stock cars, it was a new face in victory lane as Todd Gereau picked up the feature win. Taking advantage of Elijah Zevenbergen and Todd Barker’s absence, Gereau was able to charge from row 3 to take top honors over Sioux Centers Curt Vanbeek and Bo Lundquist. The point standings have seen a major shift as Paul Wenzlaff has taken over the point lead.

Rusty Montagne was once again the top driver in the Schaeffer Oil Sport Modifieds. Montagne worked both the top and bottom grooves and held off a determined Todd Boulware and the ever improving Jeff Brunssen. Aaron Wiersma was able to finish a strong fourth.

Andy Hoffman just cannot be stopped at Park Jefferson as he continued to find earn top honors for the 2nd week in a row in the Hobby Stock division. Hoffman was able to take advantage of his 2nd place starting spot and was able to cruise to victory over Aaron Shearn and David Miller. Hoffman has been a regular for many years and is a former track champion, and if he continues on this pace will be a force the remainder of the year.

Luke Jackson saws able to find his way to the front in the Fox 620 Sport Compact division as he was able to take advantage of the front row starting spot to earn top honors. Jackson was able to win over Jake Newsom and point leader Tyler Thompson. Jackson did not have an easy trip as there were a number of challenges for the lead, but in the end he finished victorious.

The Midwest Late Model Series was only able to garner 6 late models for the event, but it was top running Nate Beyenhof who was able to battle from the 2nd row to take the top spot over Gale Vogt. Beyenhof, who hails from Rock Rapids, Iowa, was clearly the top driver and was able to work the surface to perfection to take top honors. Kevin Larson finished 3rd.
